Rainbow construction and demise

Rainbow was built at the Herreshoffs Facility in Bristol, RI

She was constructed with bronze plates riveted together below the water line and steel plate above the water line

On a regular basis the boat was taken into drydock and it was the seaman's duty to polish the bronze hull with brushes and brass polish

Rainbow and most of the JBoats were salvaged for their valuable metals which were utilized in the WW II mobilization
