Rainbow weighed 141 tons

(Thats equivalent to approximately 70 automobiles)

The riveted aluminum mast weighed 5500 pounds

The keel contained   80 (eighty)  tons of fixed lead

There were 30 (thirty) tons of moveable lead ingots below decks

 After each trial run or race the team leaders would determine what changes should be made to the ballast to improve performance.  (Guess who manually moved each ingot of lead?)
