Although I was officially assigned to the 32nd Signal Battalion, I never spent a single night at their Kaserne in Wiesbaden, W. Germany. I reported to and was attached to the Headquarters Battery, 36th Field Artillery Group in Babenhausen from my first day in W. Germany when I arrived by troop ship in Bremerhaven, except when I was attached to a Signal School in Lenggries & Bad Toltz, W. Germany, first as a student, later as an instructor.
On your web site, you mention the Hawk Air Defense installations at Babenhausen. When I was stationed at Babenhausen and if my memory is correct, they were owned & operated by the 6th Battalion of the 59th Artillery.
Do you have a list of names of the people that were assigned or attached to the 36th between 1964 and 1967 (or have responded to your web site)? I would love to see if I recognize any of the names. With my memory now, I don’t guarantee anything any more.
Please add my name to your list of Babenhausen Alumni.

Following my ROTC commission
as a 2nd Lt. in the Army, I attended Air Defense Artillery School and Hawk
Missile School at Ft. Bliss early in 1964. My oldest son was born at the
Biggs AFB Hospital on 5-16-64. I was assigned to Hawk Battery A, 6th Missile
Battalion, 59th Artillery in Germany.
